Ornithogalum balansae in buds, funny colors
-
I posted this in: February 2016 in the Northern Hemisphere but as Yann has started a more relevant thread, I'll replicate it here. ;)
Some winter sunshine at last, encouraging plants to stir.

Ornithogalum umbellatum.

I went in Alsace, France last week. Amid the vines piedsdes I spotted Ornithogalum wild population. Does anyone know what kind it might be?
-
nutans, it's common there. Any photo?
-
No, I have not thought about making pictures.

Natural colour variation in a population of O. dubium at my front gate - the extremely fine seeds tend to get around a bit! ::)

Ornithogalum nutans. Not enough background contrast with the Pulmonaria?

What about a bit of the "black" Anthyriscus 'Ravenswing ' in there?

That's an idea, but I'm not very good at deadheading thugs and already have too many self sowers gone berserk - Tulipa sprengeri, Lilium martagon, Aquilegia.
-
Roma, your Tulipa sprengeri and Lilium martagon are the sort of "bother" that many would kill for! ;D

Ornithogalum Candicans is in full flower now. I used to place their pots near a wall in previous years, but for some reason I did not this year and the result is much better Rather than growing away from the wall now the flower stalks are nicely erected and sturdier.

An oldie, but a goodie, Ornithogalum arabicum, flowering well this year
