A friend is invited to join on a short visit to Kyoto towards the end of March. He will have three days on his own after his companion leaves and one of his ideas is to perhaps spend one of these visiting a couple of nurseries - assuming they are not too far away and that he has mastered(?!) the Japanese transport system. He suspects that the main frustration will be having only twelve days there in total when there is just so much to see.
Can anyone suggest plant nurseries or gardens he might visit, please?

Note from Atsuko Akabane Gibson : Kyoto botanical garden is a must. Sanzen-in has beautiful moss garden...my favorite place to visit no matter what time of the year I visit.

George and Robert shall certainly visit the Botanics and George has always wanted to see a Japanese moss garden, even has thought of establishing one here. The information is very much appreciated.
