Hi,
Every day in Summer 2015 I hand pollinated my cosmos atrosanguineus. As a result I now have some seed to give away.
I'd like to give it to people who will multiply it and return it to seed exchanges.
Growing it is much like dahlias, sow the seed at the end of March, plants start to flower at the end of June. I've found that seed is more easily produced crossing seed grown plants with the commercially available clone. I've only had seed from hand pollination.
If you'd like some seed send me a private email. I'll give priority to those who contribute to seed exchanges.
If you live inside the great seed wall of the USA, I require the correct paper work.

I got my original seed from the SRGC seed ex - and I returned some in 2015 - thanks to the original source...

A kind offer, David - it was so wonderful to learn in the past that probably the only people growing this plant from seed at the time were members here. Terrific if more are now able to grow it.

Although I've had masses of seed in recent years I've not had self-sown seedlings but this year there are hundreds! I'm pulling them out every day but keeping a few, as rabbits have scratched down and munched on the tubers themselves. As I remarked to Susan M in a text this morning, I was stoning Morello cherries bought at the market yesterday. They are very easy to stone, just with a thumb nail and it was a therapeutic and anti-stress remedy to seeing rabbits on the back lawn, munching their way through dianthus plants as I stoned cherries.
I'm making a custard tart for tea and will pile the par-cooked cherries on top. :P

Interestingly Mel A. mentioned the same thing was happening at her place when I visited yesterday .
