Muscari inconstrictum SBL125 Jordania, from Kurt
-
I guess I can post this one here ?
Bellevalia hermonis
-
looks like longistyla but more compact.
-
Not sure if this is the right place to post this. I got AGS seed as Hyacinthus orientalis ssp chionophyllus but I think that it's Hyacinthus orientalis. I would prefer the ssp having seen Tony Willis's photo but at least it looks like it might be the wild orientalis. Lovely scent.

My greenhouse is filled with the most wonderful scent from my pot of Muscari muscarimi - better than any French perfume.

Muscari armeniacum, pink form, JJA 688.012. Turkey, Konya, S of Beyşehir Golu. 1100m. Roadside verge. Ex. R. & R. Wallis 90-50.
-
Pseudomuscari azureum 'Album': small and easily missed.
-
Pseudomuscari azureum?
-
Probably.
-
If anyone still has them blooming, can you take a sniff? For science?
I just noticed that the local patches ARE fragrant, a curious almost medicine-y fruity fragrance. I never actually bothered to pick enough to get a whiff. Or am I just hallucinating?
-
Apart from the famously highly scented Muscari - macrocarpum , muscarimii etc, I find that the other, smaller types, from the ubiquitous "grape Hyacinths " which multiply so freely to all other muscari, and psuedomuscari species are pleasantly fragranced. Delightful bulbs indeed.
-
Bellevalia atroviolacea from Tajikistan, before it's gone eaten by slugs!!

-
Tatsuo your mcbeathianum plant is wonderful.
-
I'm generally not a big fan of muscari, but looking at all the close-up pictures prompted me to go out and look at mine. This little one is a seedling off M. armeniacum 'Valerie Finnis' and is rather charming.
-
Muscari armeniacum 'Valerie Finnis' is flowering here too. Sorry, lousy photo.
-
Not nearly as choice as those already featured, but here are my Muscari latifolium in the rockery. Still a beautiful and distinctive plant, and seeds around without being a nuisance.

White and blue forms of Muscari azureum.

The two together, with seedlings of M. 'Valerie Finnis' in bud behind.

Muscari discolor- RIGA-029 purplish violet
Muscari discolor -BATMAN 368 more blueish
-
I found this extremely pale blue Muscari in my garden today in a spot where I haven't planted any. Does anyone have any ideas what it might be? Sorry I forgot to photograph the leaves while I was at it.
I have a suspicion it might have grown from some bulbs that I planted in this area as Hyacinthoides italica last autumn as I've seen no sign of them.

Muscari inconstrictum raised from seed from Kurt Vickery a few years ago

I raised this from seed as Muscari azureum but it seems to match the pics of Pseudomuscari chalusicum on PBS wiki http://www.pacificbulbsociety.org/pbswiki/index.php/Pseudomuscari (http://www.pacificbulbsociety.org/pbswiki/index.php/Pseudomuscari)

Muscari aucheri ex 'Ocean Magic' from SRGC seed 2013/14, sown 06 Aug 2014. First flowering and slightly confused re. timing?
-
Perhaps you've got an autumn flowering seedling, Matt ;)
-
We'll see what it does in future years, but I'll reserve the rights to the name 'Autumn Magic' ;D
-
comosa 'Plumosum' was so fashion in the 70-80's, nowadays it's almost extinct in the french gardens, but i guess also in other countries?

Yes, Yann,
Likewise here - I don't think I'd seen it for ages, which is why I decided to buy some when I saw it on offer - when it was popular it was also a bit too pricey for a poor student to afford ;D
I think it's mostly grown for "novelty value"!
