Title: Viola needs a name
Post by: Jupiter on November 13, 2015, 10:48:59 AM

I bought this little Viola as Viola jooi, which it obviously isn't! Does anyone know what it is?

Obviously a Melanium type (pansy) - perhaps a Viola cornuta hybrid. Sorry, difficult
to give a more precise answer.

It is similar to V. cornuta but the upper petals seem narrow. I have seen masses of cornuta naturalised along a roadside verge. All had wide upper petals. It could also be a "sport?"

Thank you Gerd and Ian, I'm sure you're right. I'm satisfied that it is cornuta.
Cheers.
