I'm really struggling with botrytis, not me personally I hasten to add, but both plants in the alpine house ( which really is just an 8' X 6' greenhouse with some of the glass taken out) and plants that just have overhead cover. The greenhouse does have an electric fan running permanently, but with this never ending period of fog the plants really are suffering. Can anyone suggest a/ a suitable treatment and b/ any further preventative measures?

Hi Lawrence Can't you put the glass back in? I'd say it's the damp air that's causing you the problems with botrytis. I have had problems with it in the past, but since I started using trichoderma it's a thing of the past. If you go to the second page of the cultivation section you'll see the trichoderma topic right down at the bottom. Like I said before though you really need to sort out your glass house out first, at this time of year excess moisture on your plants is not good as you have found out. I hope this helps. You can buy trichoderma on eBay if you want to have ago with it.

Hi Lawrence
Same problem here in the wet West of Scotland! Having to check all plants every day even though fans running constantly. I spoke to Sam Sutherland yesterday and discovered that spraying with Systhane helps. Let you know how it goes!

Interesting topic - whether to fight fungal infection with fungus or with fungicide. I'd try copper fungicide.
