.....I think the ladies prefer more such earrings ::)
Title: Re: Galanthus -Quizz

Maggi - did you google?....
Title: Re: Galanthus -Quizz
Post by: Maggi Young on February 15, 2008, 07:52:18 PM
Process of elimination...... little birds twittering in ears, and the talk of clever Magpies who steal pretty things..... I am not a Maggi Magpie for nothing!!  I spend quite a lot of time looking for really good snowdrop earrings... and, as my Father liked to say, the Greeks always have a word for it!
 So : σκουλαρίκι = "skoulariki" =ear-ring ? Fascinating!

As a translator I know very well never to trust an on-line dictionary  ;D but I thought, what the hell, it would be a nice joke if a snowdrop was a leucojum in Greek  :D

Chloë
who ought to know a bit more Greek, with that name ...

You have to choose "pages from Greece" or how it is called there. Here it is called "seiten von Greece" (bad translation...).
Title: Re: Galanthus -Quizz
Post by: Maggi Young on February 15, 2008, 09:37:47 PM
Arne, I have tried this also... no success! :-\ I get nothing in English that is the equivalant of 'seiten von Greece'.... only the same in GREEK!  I will have to stick with my methods!  ::)
