Title: Galanthus - July 2015
Post by: Anthony Darby on July 06, 2015, 10:56:14 AM
The oldest seedlings here are three years old. The bright green ones with the purple label are reginae-olgae from Sicily, and are up for their second season.

G'day,
Some galanthus in flower today in our garden:
"Green Outer Tips", possibly 'Comet', 2 pics;
'Lady Beatrix Stanley' and the interior of one bloom.
The G. elwesii are also continuing in different parts of the garden and we dsicovered G.'Ophelia' is still with us! Maybe this year we'll get a flower ::)
cheers
fermi

Fermi , I am amazed how well you can grow snowdrops in your hot and arid climate . Gal . 'Lady Beatrix Stanley ' together with 'Lavinia' was one of the first doubles I imported from England over 45 years ago - and now they have multiplied to many thousands .
here are a few taken today in my garden - almost freezing temperatures and brilliant sunshine today . A few not so widely grown in gardens here in Australia .

    G. 'Blewbury Tart'
    G. 'Heffalump'
    G. rizehensis
    G.'Lady B. Stanley'

    Gal. 'Megan'
    Cr. biflorus coll.Rhodos

Wonderful Otto! You've done very well with the camera considering you would have been shivering from the cold! I'm editing a photo I took of Galanthus nivalis "Sam Arnott" to hang on the wall in our lounge. It will be printed 100cm wide! I can't wait.

Fermi your pics are excellent also. Your lady beatirix stanley is luscious and that "comet" is very nice. The shape looks a bit like Merlin, do you think?

I'm being very picky, Otto, but it's "Rosemary Burnham" and not "Rosemarie".  This mistake does crop-up occasionally as in the URL here http://galanthus-online.de/kultivare-p-z/rosemarie-burnham.html (http://galanthus-online.de/kultivare-p-z/rosemarie-burnham.html) although the information on the page is correct.

Lovely to see them Otto, and good that you have Megan growing well.  One that I know can be tricky, it suits your conditions!

your Oxalis is in perfect condition to be shown - but the correct name is O. hirta  versicolour and NOT O. massoniana  versicolour .

Otto, I tricked you! I don't speak German at all, Google does.  ;)

Thanks for the correction on the Oxalis name. I will update my list so I have it right.
