I am still in my first full year of showing and was contemplating going to the Pershore AGS show next weekend ( bit of a trek from North Yorkshire), I was hoping my Campanula zoysii would be in flower but as you can see from the photograph it is some way off!
Is there anything I can do to bring the flowers on or do I just face facts that it is not going to be ready

Apologies for the poor photograph :-[

That is a very creditable C. zoysii, Lawrence and I'm afraid that anything that you tried to do to hasten blooming would be detrimental to the plant and it's obvious good health. Sun and sufficient moisture at the roots are it's only requirements at this time and we exhibitors know the frustrations of having a special plant that just misses a show. Perhaps you will be lucky and enough flowers will open to make that long trip more than worthwhile, the opposition in the junior sections probably couldn't compete with a well grown zoysii in partial flower. I wish you well and hope that you can talk nicely to it over the next few days. Congratulations on showing us such a beautifully grown plant.

Very frustrating when such an obviously super plant refuses to perform to a schedule, Lawrence but Cliff is right; even with a few flowers open it may still take a ticket. It is certainly a plant to grace any show bench and I hope you - and it -will have a very enjoyable trip to the Pershore show.
