Title: AGS Southport Show 16th May 2015
Post by: ranunculus on May 16, 2015, 05:57:39 PM
A swift return from a very breezy day at the excellent Southport AGS Show. Congratulations to Show Secretary; Roger Beecham and his always wonderfully efficient team on another superbly run event.

The Farrer Medal at Southport was scooped by a huge potful of the stunningly beautiful, Fritillaria camschatcensis exhibited by Clare Oates.

The lunchtime shenanigans of the 2015 Pudsey Pig contest attracted nearly twenty five ravenous competitors and chief piglet (winning with his first attempt at the trough) was Bob Worsley, a walking waste disposal unit from Woodford in Cheshire.  Congratulations and happy stomach pumping, Bob … did you buy any Rennies?

Clare with her wonderful Farrer Medal exhibit.
Bob unwrapping the Pudsey Pig prizes … note the exertion and tension on this poor chap's face … after the ultimate effort.

Apologies for the dreadful quality of the images … the flash on my camera is reaching the end of its shelf life and this beautiful plant is quite difficult to capture in situ' on the show bench.

Claire is such a good grower - super pot of the darkly handsome Fritillaria camschatcencis there- many congratulations to you on that success, Claire.  8)

Bob Worsley  is opening the gifts with just the  slight look of someone hoping there's a bag of jelly babies in there - one to watch for future PP contest too, I reckon.   The "old  guard" may need to up their game.  ::)
Well done Bob - hope you did get some sleep last night!  :-X
