Title: Plant ID needed for mis-named seed
Post by: Maggi Young on May 10, 2015, 05:42:00 PM
Erik Fleischer posted on Facebook 7 May

"I was sent seeds of this as Tetraneuris scaposa, which it obviously is not. It's unlikely to be a weed from my garden because it germinated in more than one cell sown to the same seeds. Any ideas?   Actually, I'm pretty sure I got these seeds from the SRGC exchange.  The leaves on these seedlings are not hairy at all, even on the underside; nor are they "succulent appearing", so I'm not too sure about  (possibility of) Packera werneriifolia. I didn't want to discard these seedlings without first checking whether they might be something desirable, but I have so many plants that I already can't find a place for in the garden that I'm unlikely to keep these just to see what they'll become.  "

That seems a real possibility, Luit - I will pass that on.

I'm thinking the Claytonia too, mainly because it looks exactly like the one I have here, a weed in just about every part of the garden. Roundup does for it but the seeds keep on keeping on. I saw an advertisement for it for sale a week or two ago. How can people be so irresponsible? :o
