If you are going to the Sunday Westminster show you can also fit in the London marathon which is just a few minutes from the same St. James tube station. Should be rather busy for a Sunday.

News from the London Show - The Farrer Medal at AGS London Show was won by Sebaea thomasii shown by Tim Lever of Aberconwy. I rather think this is the same plant that won a Certificate of Merit at the SRGC show in Perth - or it's brother! 8)
Congratulations, Tim. :)

At the AGS show in Belfast on 25th April, the Farrer medal was won by Gentiana acaulis grown by Paddy Smith.
The photo is by Don Peace, from Twitter .
Well done , Paddy !!

A note from a local member : " I have just noticed 'plant sales from 10 a.m". We let people in at 9 - that's what all our advertising says. The early bird catches the worm - in this case the choicest plants."
Be warned, folks!
Have a great day!

Hi Everyone
I have posted some photos from the Wimborne Show on the AGS Discussion forum here http://www.alpinegardensociety.net/discussion/atshows/ (http://www.alpinegardensociety.net/discussion/atshows/).
I hope there is something to interest you there. If you notice any naming errors, please let me know.
Below is the Farrer medal winner - Arenaria hookeri var desertorum exhibited by Lee and Julie Martin.
Jon
-
My, that's a cracking Arenaria - well done Lee and Julie on that one! Thank for the link to the Rocky Flower Show pix, Jon :)
-
This pic of Martin Rogerson's lovely winning six -pan entry was posted on Facebook - had to repost it here - we can see quite clearly how fond Martin is of Lewisia, I think!

The next AGS show is the Bakewell Show which will be held on Sunday, 14 June - 12.00 noon to 4.00 pm
(Plant sales open at 10.00, Show open after judging completed at approximately 11.30)
at the Agricultural Business Centre, Agricultural Way, Bakewell, Derbyshire, DE45 1AH - it seems some satnavs will take you to not quite the right place, so perhaps best to check maps online (https://www.google.com/maps/place/Agricultural+Business+Centre/@53.212968,-1.669464,15z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0xadc6ba9468640dba)for those visiting for the first time.

Tweeted by the AGS - photo of Campanula fragilis the Farrer Medal-winning plant at Pershore today -
[attachimg=1]
Magnificent plant taking the honours at Pershore Show today- well done to Edward Spencer for this fine plant
Named by AGS tweet typo as C. gracilis but Diane Clement suggests is it Campanula fragilis :)
-
Lawrence Peet has posted Photographs of Pershore AGS show available here, just follow the link: www.Lawrencepeetalpines.com (http://www.Lawrencepeetalpines.com) - and it seems he had a pretty successful day with his plants :)
-
One thing you will notice about this venue is the vast amount of space between the display tables. The first ever show I have been to where you did not have to worry about the "flow of traffic" to see the plants. The tables were a little narrow though for the larger pots, and it was very warm even with heavy shading on this greenhouse venue.
