Hi
Haven't grown any Fritillaria before, but would like to try F. pudica and alburyana, can anyone suggest where I might obtain seed, bulbs or plants please
Thank you

Hi Lawrence,
I was given some F.pudica seeds last autumn that came from Plant World Seeds: http://www.plant-world-seeds.com/store/search_for_item?page=2&search_string=fritillaria (http://www.plant-world-seeds.com/store/search_for_item?page=2&search_string=fritillaria)
The seeds were good, a reasonable number in a packet and having sowed them in October I noticed the first seedlings germinating last week. I have other Frits that I sowed during November that are also germinating now. I think autumn sowing (before the end of the calendar year at least) is best for Frits and it's probably a bit late to be sowing them now. Frit seeds that I have just received from this year's SRGC seed exchange are in storage until the autumn. If you do buy seeds, I'd be inclined to keep them back for sowing in the coming autumn, or better still wait until early autumn to order seeds when you're more likely to get the new years crop of seed.
Do check out Ian's bulb log for sowing advice, i.e.: http://www.srgc.org.uk/logs/logdir/2012Dec041354625061BULB_LOG_4912.pdf (http://www.srgc.org.uk/logs/logdir/2012Dec041354625061BULB_LOG_4912.pdf)
Sorry, can't help re bulbs or plants.

PS: both F.alburyana and F.pudica were listed in the SRGC seed exchange this year, so keep an eye for them next time around.

One of my favourite bulbs - but I lost all my stock a few years ago when I was ill - might be worth joining the frit society
If you can get rice or bulbs its a bit quicker than seed - however I did find seed grown survive a bit better with me as they got used to my growing conditions

Thanks very much for the advice Matt, thought I would be too late for this year where seeds are concerned , but was hoping there might be a supplier of plants, will have to keep an eye out for the next SRGC seed list
Thanks Graeme will look at the Frit. Society as well
