Title: cloche
Post by: arilnut on December 30, 2014, 05:26:56 PM
I purchased the cloche in pic 1 two years ago for $73 USD plus shipping.  It is
39 inch by 17 inch by 13 inch.   I have come up with cheaper and much easier
assembly alternative.  I picked up 2 basement window well covers at Home Depot
for less than $20 USD each. I put 2 together with just bull clips for now, this is
shown in the next pics.  I will permanently join them later with aluminum strap and
bolts. It measures 41 inch by 34 inch by 15 inch. Much more area for half the money.

Small transparent structures like this can get very hot inside when the sun is shining.  Just something to watch out for.  The holes at the end may not give enough ventilation.

Plastics may break down when exposed to sun.  Plastic films can be very short-lived.  It's a good idea to make sure that the plastic is rated for sun exposure, or has been treated with a UV inhibitor.  The polycarbonate sheets that Home Depot sells hold up well in sunlight.
