Scottish philsophy in Sweden. From left to right; Ian Young, Mr Crocus Janis Ruksans and one of Sweden´s most important plant hunters; Eric Wahlsteen.
I was very happy to have Ian visiting Sweden again, and I am quite sure that many persons in the audience lifted a surprised eyebrow hearing his natural and healthy philosophy regarding plants. I think that it is good that people once in a while get reminded about the fact that plants has existed for millions of years without us "helping" them. Here in Sweden we tend to make everything very complicated ( many people even seem to enjoy to express how hard it is to have a garden and raise plants- the more complicated the better).
Janis was as usual high on his Crocuses and Eric gave interesting talks based on deep research and personal experience. Jonny Andresen told us about all his Magnolias that he grows in an area that the expertise has declared being totally impossible for Magnolias.

And Ian was very pleased to be back in Sweden , Susann and had a great time with so many friends. He was looked after very well by his kind hosts - I just hope he does not expect to be so spoiled here!
....and thank you for the rainbow candy, Susann! :-*
-
Maggi, I am happy to hear and I think it was fair and right that they spoiled Ian;. remembering how super-spoiled Olga and I became in our stay in Scotland. We did not lift a finger in the whole time except at the only night at a hotel where we had to bare-root our plants all by ourselves although there were both portiers and bellboys. (I am not sure the hotel deserved all it´s stars?)

From the pic it would appear Janis doesn't believe the size of Ian's Crocus corms as he so ebulliently describes them............

It was a very good weekend and I enjoyed it very much.
The talks were all good but as Janis spoke in English I understood him best.
I did not understand so much of what Jonny said but I could follow by the pictures and from the laughter of the audience he entertained as well as educated them.
I also discovered another of Jonny's talents being a waiter as he cleared up for us at dinner ;) :D

Oh my......I told my wife that Mr. Young is a sharp and educated man that even is a wizard when it comes to Photoshop....i almost made her believe that...now I'm tired after 1 week of Moose hunting and serving the guest here...( yes i had to be a waiter aswell)...my good days are gone..... ..It was a real pleasure to meet you all :-) Bummer that i could not stay for Sunday but there be other years to come....Cheers Jonny :)

It's always nice to meet like minded people and I traveled all the way from Bergen in Norway to participate in Uppsala in Sveden.
