Title: Mystery heathland plant
Post by: Maggi Young on September 22, 2014, 04:37:36 PM
Any ideas what this plant, found on heathland  might be?  Not sure whether this was in Scotland or Ireland - or if that's relevant!

It looks like Tormentil, Potentilla erecta. This is a flower without the petals. The range/habitat would be correct.

Yes, agree, Potentilla erecta without petals. This species has 4 in stead of 5 petals/sepals etc as other Potentillas have.

Hello Matt, great to meet you at the late bulb day at Scone, cheers Ian the Christie kind.

Likewise, Ian. It's good to get off the island sometimes, especially when I get to meet friendly Forum folk in person. Not long until the Discussion Weekend now either, which I'm looking forward to :)
Matt
