A new acquisition from Kurt this year is this precocious Galanthus peshmenii.
-
Looking good, Matt - very healthy.
-
Looks lovely Matt.............the sign of things to come 8)
-
Great start to the season!
-
It is real early. Guys, the autumn season is open ;) :D :)
-
As Hagen said 'the season is open', at least in the West ! G. r.-o. 'Blanc de Chine', the first snowdrop to flower here in the open garden.
" An albino form with the tiniest dots on occasion".
-
Beautiful Freddy!
1. The first Galanthus 'Reginae Olgae' has opened in my garden.
2. More to follow...

Freddy, Poul, you can be happy ;), here in the East part of Germany, we have to wait :(.
But your pics bring joy to us too :D.
We have learned to wait.
-
That's a very nice reginae olgae CV Freddie! Definitly one for the wish list ;D
-
Saw two noses of G ro this morning :), we are on the way also....
But now, after work, it is dark.
Weekend will bring more impressions...
Heartbeat has a higher frequency now :)
I need it, I love it!!!
-
First nose of Galanthus peshmenii O.S.792 this morning, nothing yet on G.r-o's.
-
No sign of my peshmeniis or reginae-olgaes. Especially looking forward to my r-o 'Ruby Baker' which is now four bulbs

;D ;D ;D
The season of forays to garden and greenhouse by torchlight is fast approaching.
-
G. reginae-olgae subsp. reginae-olgae (and his varieties) has a reputation for not being very cold-hardy but this is in our opinion not the case. It already survived temperatures of -15 to -20°C in our garden (sandy soil) under a layer of leafmould. Picture: a very early flowering clone each year in the garden !
-
Checked the resting bulbs bunker (rural Essex) this morning as usual!
The great news is that 'Remember Remember' is just breaking surface! A great acquisition this year from Glen Chantry.
And so it begins again...
-
Galanthus peshmenii flowering here.
-
G. r-o AS24329 is now up and open in the garden. 'Cambridge' is up but not open

An update
Poul

Just back from 10 days away and so much has moved on in the garden! This Galanthus reginae-olgae is also a new one for me this year, from Anne Wright.
-
The first G. r-o 'Ruby Baker' is up and has NO green tips
-
Is it a small immature bulb ?
-
Wouldn't have thought so. My original bulb is now four. Time will tell when the rest come up
-
The Galanthus season is definitively started in the garden with reginae-olgae. First a picture of a 'real' r.-o. 'Blanc de Chine' flower and second, particularly for Mark, r.-o. 'Ruby Baker' with not as much green as last year but still with green stripes.
-
Top Gr-o cultivars, Freddy.
A Gr-o with green marks on the outers is fine.
In the moment I have only normal G r-o in bloom and the Gp look poor, compared to your pics.
Here is a normal colored Gp with fine globular flowers.
First picture shows on the left a normal Gr-o flower.
-
Here's my first Ruby Baker. No sign of the others
Galanthus reginae-olgae AS25329

Mark, yes.....often the autumn snowdrop loose green markings on the outers. It`s a pity but it happens. Nobody can help you real. I got a lot of these negative experiences.... >:(
-
Oh, the autumn season starts very slowly in the Scotch forum.
But why? Nobody likes G peshmenii in UK?
Here are two more seedlings.
-
Two more stunners from Hagen. Are these from seeds you collected, hybridized or other? Beautiful.
-
Haha Hagen you know some of us in the UK love G.peshmenii!....both lovely selections.
-

Lovely peshmenii Hagen, but the first of my 'drops are only just through the ground less than a centimetre.
-
Yes Melvyn, I know some of you ;)
Brian, my bulbs had a lot of dry summer days.
I refreshed them in the first week of September with watering can (weather report only showed sun and sun and sun).
So they are early in blooming.
-
I have one peshmenii almost open under glass. Outside there is no sign yet.
No photo, though - but I can tell you what it looks like - a snowdrop ::) ;)
-
I have peshmenii also. They grow in the garden and in pots in the greenhouse
-
I also grow peshmenii, but none of mine have broken the surface of the pots. They have received water and today the garden is getting plenty after more than a week without :)
Hagen
I always like seeing your snowdrops - one of your new selections in the main season should be named "Green with Envy" :) ;D :)

Yes, http://www.srgc.net/forum/index.php?topic=12267.msg313066#msg313066 (http://www.srgc.net/forum/index.php?topic=12267.msg313066#msg313066) - it's a snowdrop - and it looks just like mine!
-
Hagen - Is peshmenii hardy in the garden there? I wonder if you rate it hardier or more tender than reginae-olgae.

G. peshmenii also featured in the first post that started this thread :)

So right, Matt - and showing quite early too.

Yes, I did the same Hagen, but we have had dry weather recently too which has held them back. We have been away twice in the last month and I was going to give them some more water if I had been at home. Never mind they will still come up ;D

Only one diffident question of mine - and 16 replies at one day. Now our autumn snowdrop thread has a good pulsation. In future I will say Scots forum, OK Maggi? ;) The only thing I would like to say - If you do not like to wait for a late start of the autumn season (of course of Galanthus),
please try also Galanthus peshmenii (give rain protection im summer), this species is it worth, really!!!
The reply-number makes me happy :)
