Title: SRGC Seed Ex. 12/13-3259 Pulastilla occidentalis

Is anyone else growing from this seed please. From discussion on the Pulsatilla thread it isn't what it says on the 'tin'! Pics of mine are below, is anyone else growing it and could take a guess at what it might be?

David, do you remember what the seed was like?  In the last few years, we have several times had donations to the AGS seed exchange labelled Pulsatilla occidentalis (or Anemone occidentalis) which have been fluffy cotton wool seed, and not typical feathery seed, which is what P occidentalis should have. 

The real thing is a beautiful species but sadly, extremely difficult to grow.  I've tried several times but not got it through the winter.  Graham Nicholls has had some success with it and told me the important thing is to keep it dry in the winter and not water at all until you see the new growth in the spring.

Thanks for responding Diane. I'm afraid I can't remember what the seed was like (I have trouble remembering what I had for Dinner yesterday-you'll get to it! ;D  )

I was over the moon when I got good germination though, never had any success with Pulsatilla before, I should have known :(
