Is there anybody out there who knows what has happened to http://www.kneebone.freeserve.co.uk/? (http://www.kneebone.freeserve.co.uk/?) I am really lost without it when trying to identify my codonopsis.

Hello Marie,
Some years ago I believe that the codonopsis site changed to codonopsis.co.uk/ but that now just shows an advert for a house to rent and the link you give was operational last December, I think - someone must know what has happened.......
-
Meanwhile - it may be useful for you to read this : http://www.srgc.net/forum/index.php?topic=11898.msg306757#msg306757 (http://www.srgc.net/forum/index.php?topic=11898.msg306757#msg306757) 8)
Bob Armstrong is a forum member too so I hope he might be able to help you with ID questions.
-
Thanks for your reply, Maggi. So if I want help identifying particular codonopsis flowers, I should simply attach photos to a post in this forum and see what happens.
-
Why not, Marie? Can't make any promises but the Forumists have a VERY good record in helping with identification of all sorts of plants. 8)

Paul Kneebone is no longer the holder of the national collection of codonopsis.
Ann & Bob Armstrong have taken this collection on. As yet the collection is not on line but Bob & Ann can be contacted at Email:-annbobarmstrong@btinternet.com
This is a link to Bobs website, Bob Armstrong - Artist, http://www.bobarmstrongartist.co.uk (http://www.bobarmstrongartist.co.uk)
He is usually happy to talk about these fascinating plants.
Hope this info is helpful.
Codonopsis ovata at Woodlands garden & C. kawakami in my garden.

The turquoise colour on the top of the C. kawakami flowers is as bright as Ixia viridiflora or a Jade Vine, isn't it? Fantastic colouring.
Caution tho' Mike - I see aphids on it too :P
Does it set seed? ;)

I hope it sets seed, this is the first year I have grown this plant.
Bob Armstrong has already shown an interest, he does not appear to have any plants of C. kawkami this year.
I noticed the aphid only when I looked at the photo on the computer.

I've grown a lot of codonopsis from seed exchanges and most have been C. clematidea. :) C. grey-wilsonii has a distinctive ring in the center and is easy to identify. Can anyone help me identify these two? The first plant has no hint of a colored ring while the second plant has only a faint ring. Thank you!
-
I think the first one is vinciflora and the second a form of grey-wilsonii
-
Thank you! My label of C. vinciflora is correct then. ;D C. grey-wilsonii is trickier to identify than I thought.
