Title: ID please
Post by: Menai on July 01, 2014, 12:01:54 PM
Please could someone ID this plant. I was told it was a British native but I can't find it in my wild flower books. I suspect it is pretty common. This is not my favorite family, I have too many in my 'lawn' but I like hairy rosettes.

Thank you

A Hieracium, possibly Hieracium villosum - one of the nicest Hawkweeds, though I cannot help a soft spot for the "weedy" Hieracium aurantiacum  too. :)

edit:  might be Hieracium pilosella   :-\

Thank you Maggie.
Looks more like the pics of villosa I have seen but the suggestion that it is a native would suggest pilosella. I am not really too bothered about exactitude.
