Two SRGC members in the South West of Scotland have put their house up for sale and since it has a very charming  garden, as well as great views across this attractive area of the country, they felt it might be of interest to Forum members seeking a property.

The house is ‘Cosy Cottage’, Borgue,  Kirkcudbright,  DG6 4SH.      Tel. 01557 870648.
It is a 4 bedroomed, 1.5 storey, 2 bathroomed house with a large
dining kitchen, lounge and utility room.  It benefits from wonderful views
over the Lake District hills and open countryside to 3 sides.  It has a
detached garage, hut, 3 greenhouses ( 2 with electricity) and a polytunnel.

It is but a few minutes’ walk from the property to the centre of the village which benefits from a primary school and hotel and the popular and attractive harbour town of Kirkcudbright is only five miles away. The property has 16 PV solar panels and EPC rating B.
The area is well known for its outdoor pursuits from fresh and sea water fishing to golf, hill walking and mountain biking. The coast, within just a few minutes’ drive, is varied with both sandy beaches and rocky inlets.

The gardens are extensively planted with perennial plants and a large
number of troughs and 2 rockeries solely for alpines.
In the polytunnel area there is a small orchard with strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, red and black current bushes in raised beds.

The house is up for sale with Gillespie, Gifford & Brown in Kirkcudbright,  more photos and all details can be found here :

The gardens are listed with the Scotland’s Garden Scheme:
http://www.scotlandsgardens.org/gardens/garden/24dab148-9707-4ae6-823c-a0c400d3c008 (http://www.scotlandsgardens.org/gardens/garden/24dab148-9707-4ae6-823c-a0c400d3c008)
The garden is described in the SGS listing as a village garden with herbaceous borders, rockeries, greenhouse and alpine troughs. A polytunnel with fruit and vegetables has recently been added and there is a new orchard.

You can see all details, including a floor plan of the house at the estate agent's site here (http://www.ggblaw.co.uk/Cosy-Cottage-Borgue-1568.html)  but you can also contact Judith Broome  by phone at  01557 870648 .

There is a super SRGC group in the area and the area is generally a popular one - the SRGC President is converting her part-time  residence nearby to her full time home very soon and so will be part of that group. :)
