Title: Lilium, May 2014
Post by: Robert on April 30, 2014, 01:14:24 AM
The first lilies of the season for us.

The first L. pumilum has been open for about a week now and is still looking okay. Some of the plants started early and were frosted - no flowers, others are okay and are still in bud.

L. dauricum is just starting. This is the first one.  ;)

Gene,

What a nice truss of L. mackliniae. Thanks for sharing!

I wish that I could share more now as the first L. parvum types are blooming. Farm accident sent me to the ER.  Bummer! :P  :-[

Ralph and Maggi,

Thank you for your concern!

I enjoy participating in the forum to the best of my ability. The high country is opening up now and there is so much that is interesting in the high mountains around here. Going to Hetch Hetchy a few weeks ago was awesome!

I think that I will be somewhat out of commission until the infection and swelling abate in my ankle. At least I can walk now, progress!  :D

My Lilium HANSONII has been very floriferous this year bearing more than 15 flowers on its stem.

I was pleased to get out a get a few photographs before the flowers faded:

1 & 2) Lilium amabile, still looking good.

3 & 4) Lilium pardalinum x occidentale F1

The first of the Lilium pardalinum.

This part of the garden is very sweet, and I hope to have more photographs of this area in the future. For the last few weeks the Aquilegia formosa was in full flower and there are still a few flowers around.
Mostly California native plants: Viola glabella, Aquilegia formosa, Dicentra formosa, Heracleum lanatum, Rhododendron ocidentale, and various forms of Lilium parvum.
The only none native is a shrub of Disanthus cercidifolius - great fall color!
