Does anybody have any specific experience/tips of growing Physoplexis comosa from seed? I just ordered a pack of fresh seed and am curious on when/how to sow, and grow on. I can't find anything online except for real general info, so if anybody has grown this species from seed with success, any input would be greatly appreciated! [emoji1]

Gene, that was exactly what I was after. Thank you!

As a side note, does anyone have any pictures of what Physoplexis seed looks like? I ordered some fresh seed from an Australian seller on EBay, and I want to make sure that I'm getting the right thing when they arrive next week.

Picture on this page - http://theseedsite.co.uk/seedsize1.html (http://theseedsite.co.uk/seedsize1.html) All the pictures are more or less life-size, photographed in a 1" circle.

Thanks Maggi! Now I at least have some reference so I know I wasn't ripped off :)

Well, I could take some pics of my tiny seedlings in all stages (they seem to germinate a bit irregularly, they are not of same size).
I hope mine are the real thing :)

That would be very helpful! Thanks!

Here you go, Danny.
(Hope my seeds were the real thing:)

Here's hoping! Thanks!

Seeds came today! Time to get busy!

Good news and good luck!

Quick question fixpix, how long did you stratify the seeds before they started germinating?
-
Sorry. Late reply. Just checked the pot. It says 27.12.2013. But i am not sur when the seeds started to germinate.
Don't know if they germinated cause it was their time, or cause warmer weather came.
The pot was on balcony, just a bit warmer than outside.

Just put a batch into the fridge for stratification. Here's hoping :)

I have managed to grow Physoplexis from seed from the NARGS SeedEX and they have now bloomed nicely for two seasons. Last year I tried to collect seed and I think some germinated early but they did not winter over-looking for suggestions on how best to collect seed as last year what I collected was very difficult to discern seed from chaff

Hi Harold,
hopefully Dave Toole will respond to this message as I think he has managed to collect seed in the past,
cheers

I have seed sown at the moment but they aren't germinating, so I'll keep my trap shut and watch this thread with interest. :)

The most comprehensive information is an article by Gene Mirro in a NARGS Bulletin of 2009.The link he gives is in reply no 1 on page 1 of this SRGC Forum thread .
Sorry I am unable highlight the link below.
