Hello everyone,
I would like to show you some Leucojum vernum var. vernum mutations I have found.
1. - its so weird, that it does not need a description
1a - same plant, but different point of view.
2 - green leaking from the tips up to about half of the petal.
3 - opened corolla due to thinner petals.
4 - eight petals
-
4a - eight petalled one, different point of view
5 - this form is probably already called "Green Lanthern". The one I found is very similar to it. The green part draw together the petals so much, that they form thin, finger-like ending.
6 - cone shaped flower, pointed to the side.
7 - ALMOST pure white one, containing only trace of green tips, making petals not drawn together by them, almost Fritillaria like.
7b - a totally different plant with the same form of mutation
-
8 - low sitting flowers, pointed a bit up and to the side.
9 - cone - shaped flower, pointed up and to the side.
10 - normal shaped flower, pointed up and to the side.
11 - Galanthus like, very closed flower. (One of my favourites).
12 - very nice green markings, drawing petals to form "fingers", flower pointed slightly up and to the side.
-
13 - Yellow leafed one, there was a whole area where such forms were growing. I could say that about 5-10 clumps + some individual plants. It is definitely propagating generatively too.
13b - a clump of yellow leafed one.
14 - another green tips one, but with the tips moved more to the edge
15 - four petalled one. It might be one time mutation, still interesting looking one.
16 - flattened corolla, thinner petals, which does not make a closed cup.
-
17 - yellow ovary
random - a photo of beautiful two forms one with green and the other with yellow tips side by side. That way they just look amazing.
I hope you enjoyed the forms I have found and presented.

Extensive variations on the Leucojum from nature, Chris. Something to get the hearts of the 'Leucojocks' (as Ian calls the snowflakes fans) racing.
This is the first time I have seen photos of such diverse types from the leucojum - a rival to the galanthus variations, eh? ;)
As you have said, it may be that some of these mutations may not be stable so all the better that you have photographed such a range for later comparison and study.
