Erigeron montanensis perhaps? I know the difficulty in making out some labels!
See the plant in these posts : pix and plant from George Young.....

Beautiful plant! The photo resolution doesn't allow certainty, but I get the impression that the leaves may be divided as in Erigeron compositus, rather than linear-oblanceolate as in E. montanensis/ochroleucus?

Fair point, Lori - in which case all these photos/plants must be mis-named..... :-X
edit : Tsk! - and would it not then be white ? Definite pink-mauve tinge to the plants pictured, though I do find some online showing that colour - though they may be wrong too!
Some very respectable folks with misnamed plants ......

E. compositus var. discoideus is often or maybe usually(?) pink... not meaning to imply that it's definitely this variety (since that differentiation is beyond me) but just as an example. I've also seen plants of E. compositus in the mountatins here that have pink and white flowers on the same plant.
I just meant to suggest that it may be a species with divided leaves rather than E. montanensis. :)

This is the label

Blown up a bit so not perfect.

Erigeron montanensis=E. ochroleucus, which this plant is definitely not. Ochroleucus has longish, linear-oblanceolate leaves.
It looks like the purple form of E. compositus. Here: http://www.swcoloradowildflowers.com/Blue%20Purple%20Enlarged%20Photo%20Pages/erigeron%20compositus.htm (http://www.swcoloradowildflowers.com/Blue%20Purple%20Enlarged%20Photo%20Pages/erigeron%20compositus.htm)

I think this might be the Veteran Vet's plant he certainly had something very like it on the showbench at Glasgow last year. It was labelled as an Erigeron. (I think) ::)
