Looks beautiful Hans, Is H cybister normally so early flowering?

Thank you Peter :D
I have bought this bulb in October from a Netherland bulb Company - potted in November and now it flowers

chico is said to be a selection of H. Cybister. I purchased one last year, waited untill spring to pot it up, the bulb sent up a flower scape - snails ate the bud >:( so no flower last year. I have kept it in foliage untill late November and now he is resting in the basement untill April ... when hopefully everything will restart.

There is nothing in bloom in the greenhouse just yet, but there are a couple of scapes coming on ordinary aulicum. The flower in the picture below, from 2012, grew from seeds that were labeled as Hippeastrum morelianum. This is obviously a hybrid, and my guess is that it is [morelianum x papilio].

Unfortunately, this year's new foliage on this bulb looks like it has picked up a virus infection. I will probably have to put it in the trash bin. There are still two sibling bulbs from the same batch of seed, so maybe one of them will be as nice without the virus.

Jim - Why not self it just in case it's the best one and collect the seed before tossing?

John, that's not a bad idea. If it blooms, I'll try that. Thanks. If it doesn't bloom, out it goes!

Hi Hans,
nice to see your Chico flowering.
Here you see Hippeastrum aulicum and Hippeastrum papilio flowering.
Jim, it´s a pity with the virus - your plant looks like a "red papilio".

I have in this time some seedlings/offsets from species Hippeastrum for swap :
