Title: Crocus chrysanthus "Sunspot" seed
Post by: matoutdoors on December 20, 2013, 04:44:23 AM
Howdy all.... I am a VERY infrequent visitor to the forum  ... its hard to find the time in my busy life. I have been seeking plants of Crocus chrysanthus "Sunspot" here in Australia for years. It is grown only by Marcus Harvey here (that I am aware of)  .... In desperation I am seeking seed from this cultivar. Perhaps one or two will exhibit the dark stigma of the parent.

If you have some or your plants set seed. PLEASE send me some. I am very happy to pay for the seed and postage

Many thanks

Mat

Hi Mat,
Great to hear from you - I do hope someone will be able to help out with your plea.

I'm not aware of our Sunspot having set seed - but I'm sure that seed has been mentioned before in the forum .......

I bought a single corm of 'Sunspot' from Marcus a few years ago but alas it never showed its nose at all. Now of course, Marcius no longer exports, our final source of new material gone. :'(

When I receive seeds I have been looking for for a decade I feel very happy Lesley. I could easily give you a list of seeds which I am keen to obtain and have been looking for for years. It is fortunate that such treasures do not come so easily,  -because experience grows with time, then one is better able to care for them when they do arrive.
