From Janis in a Crocus thread.....

Tomorrow is real Christmas - our pagan festival, when real new year will start (21st of December at 19-11 in evening!). Our family will come together and we will celebrate this night with donations to our ancient Gods, dancing and singing and masquerade.

Greetings to all Croco-nuts with returning of Sun and elongating of Day!

Here winter still didn't started, no more crocuses in bloom, but buds are shown by C. korolkowii. Blooms some Iranian reticulata irises.

Janis

Work has been stupidly demanding in the last few months and I have had no garden and no internet time - but yesterday was my last day and I am now on 25 days leave.    ;D   Flying off to Madeira tomorrow until Mid January.

A quick photo from the garden.  Made me smile at the thought of what 2014 has to look forward to.

Best wishes to everyone.

John

Today I went for a walk in the garden, many plants do not know it is still winter, Eranthis, Galanthus, Hepatica and Adonis has started to grow and soon there will be flowers and then come spring. The picture is not from this year, we have any snow in Denmark this winter.
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR

No Christmasy picture I'm sorry, but I do want very much to wish everyone a wonderful Christmas season, and a happy, healthy New Year with masses of flowers to come. It's mid summer here yet already the first little leaves are up of Cyclamen coum! What is wrong with our seasons?

I wish all forumnists a Merry Christmas and a good gardening season in 2014.

There are not many flowers in the garden right now, but this Muscari armenaicum 'Christmas Pearl' was right on time.

Best wishes
Poul

A very happy and peaceful Christmas to all Forum friends. May all your plants thrive and may all you weather be good, with just enough rain when you need it.

Just bound for the short trip into Cornwall to spend Christmas with my daughter and her partner. Maureen deliriously happy that for the first time in 38 years she hasn't got to cook Christmas dinner and I don't have to wash up (or so we're told!!). More battering storms due on Thursday evening.

Travel safely, David and have a great time.

I think there will be lots of people having a tough time making their journeys in the UK this Christmas - pretty horrible weather here -not sure what it's like on the continent.....
I just hope everyone travelling arrives safely   :-*

The computer told me I already sent this but I don't think so.  Please excuse me if the computer is correct (it does happen sometimes).
I saw this on a paper napkin at a Christmas party and thought it too funny not to share.

           "Dear Santa
            My wish for this year
is a big fat bank account
            and a slim body.

            (Don't mix these up like
             you did last year!)"
