Title: Happy New Year!!
Post by: Paul T on December 31, 2007, 02:13:54 PM
Howdy All,

A great big HAPPY NEW YEAR from Australia.  Currently a bit after 1am, but thought I'd write and start of the new year discussion!!  The New Zealanders would already be well asleep this morning, and the rest of you are mainly still counting down to 2008.

All the best for this new year everyone!!  Best wishes from Aus.  8)

Many Happy Returns, Paul.

It's mid afternoon here on New Year's Eve and we are about to pack to head off for a few days to start off the New Year.

Enjoy the celebrations everybody.

And from me too, a very happy New Year to all Forumists. I wasn't thinking much about the Forum I have to admit, at midnight, just having a quick drink then going to bed. I was bushed after a long hard ( :)) day in Central Otago, eating (fruit) and drinking (wine) our way from Ettrick to Roxburgh, Alexandra to Cromwell then Clyde to Omakau and Ranfurly, and home. Quick barbecue because the gorgeous Central day was much less so at home, then bed. Roger went out first footing with some of his family but I wasn't up to it. Weeding today is my intention, but I seem to be taking a long time to get started.

Happy New Year to all.  Fantastic day here - clear blue skies and so warm.  Even though we got to bed at around 3.00am, I was still able to get out at 7.30 and do some spraying before the wind comes up.

Beautiful New Year weather, looks like breakfast will have to be out in the sunshine.

Happy New Year southern hemisphereans! You won't hear much from the rest up here now as it's just over 2 hours to midnight and they'll all be at parties etc.

I should be at a party but let my other half go on ahead while I nipped out to do some snowdrop pollinating by torchlight (well it's supposed to rain tomorrow and there's some crosses I've been waiting to do!)

Oh Martin, is that dedication or sad?  ;D That's the benefit of being in the Southern Hemisphere, or rather in this part, it is light until after 10.00pm then it is light again around 5.00am at this time of the year, so no running around doing one's pollinating by torchlight!

According to 'Scotland on Film' earlier tonight (well, yesterday i.e. Hogmanay), most Scots see in 'the Bells' at home and then go out first footing. Well, I've done the first bit, but tonight (one foot in the grave, the other covered in corns) my feet will stay this side of my threshhold while the good people of Dunblane seem to be blowing themselves up. Happy New Year folks.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL

Yes it sounded like an invasion at midnight in Aberdeen with the bells ringing, the ships all soundining thier hooters and fireworks by the tonne - it went on for a good 40 minutes then it went quiet.

This morning it is very quiet and a miserable day with fine drizzle that soaked me and Lily on our walk. Above I could hear the honk honk wick wick of a skene of geese flying over head but the cloud is so low that Icould not see them. Judging by the sound they were flying around in circles also lost in the cloud.

I am envious of the fine weather in New Zealand and just hope it stays that way for my trip - I leave in 15days.

Happy New Year all.  Its a rainy, miserable wet day here, but it is watering my bulbs that are nosing through the soil nicely, and wont be long before I have lovely flowers to look at although I. Katherine Hodgkin bloomed for me on Christmas Day.  Looking for lots more soon.... and hopefully a bit of brighter weather too.  Only one or two fireworks here, but we are a bit isolated.  I was glad because our little dog, Nipper, goes crazy when he hears them.  Once or twice over the past few years (since this craze of fireworks at NY started) we've had to stay up with him till after 2am when he calmed down.  Feel sorry for all dog owners whose pets struggle with fireworks.....

A Happy New Year!

I wish everybody a successful gardening season 2008!

Silvester night here was terrible foggy. Fired rockets just disappeared in the grey... ???
Interesting experience was how strong lights and noices had been adsorbed by the strong mist.

Nevertheless, celebrations in my neighbours party room continued until 5.30 AM...

Thumbs up! No headaches after plenty of beer and drinks...just being very tired.
