You're leaving it late. Entries to the On-line show close at 17.00 GMT tomorrow (24th December). Go on, have a go and then we can all discuss the results, disgree with the judges, complain about the schedule. Just like a normal Spring Saturday! The only problem is you'll have to sweat over the tense period of judging for days rather than hours.

I posted 2 or 3 a couple of days ago. Hope to add some extras next year.
-
You can now view the entries without the exhibitor's names. Some good fun to be had guessing who's been entering what, and some lovely plants. Good to see so many in open gardens rather than pots. Entries well up on last years first attempt. Certain plants appear a number of times in different classes which is within the rules. Maybe there should be a prize for the exhibitor who manages to put a single plant in the most classes! I think a certain Forum member might win that one this year!

Hi Martin R
I must say it was an interesting exhibision. 8)
I would have liked even more entries in some classes.
I did only find one I could find out the owner and that was Lesleys iris after getting the hint where it was grown I actually remembered seeing the plant on srgc forum. (Best of Luck)
Maybe this is "Schadenfreude", "skadeglädje" or laughing at others little dilema but when googling on ags I had to go back 5 pages to get the right one and that was 3 pages after the american goat society. srgc is the first to appear when doing a google search. Here is the link.

I've just enjoyed a visit to this "Show"... I didn't pay too much attention to eligibility in most classes but the Nomocharis shown in Class 62 ... for a Calochortus, is surely NAS (Not According To Schedule) ::) ??? ::)
-
I did my fair bit.... now the tension rises.... :-\... we're not used to exhibiting out here you know ;D

All the more reason for you to take part and have a little fun, then, I would say! 8)
You sometimes come across to visit a show, don't you, so you understand what's expected! ??? ::)
I wish you lots of luck,Luc!
-
Mmm. I'm afraid the SRGC Forum leaves it standing. :P I mean, one entry for Cypripedium, and a pretend one at that. ::)
-
Thanks Maggi - I do try and visit some shows whenever I can, but there's "show standards" and there's "my standards"... two different things... ;D
But you're absolutely right, it's good fun !
(by the way, recognized my Rhodo Maggi ??"
-
Don't miss out next year Anthony ! ;)
-
I did indeed know your rhodo when I saw it, Luc, and some others as well!
Anthony, what do you mean, why is that Cyp. "pretend"..... is there some strange hierarchy in Cyp . growers that "I wot not of"?
-
Personally I think they should be put in a different genus. Most un-cyp like. Just my opinion - like it or lump it....or should that be like it or split it? ::)
-
How about a bit of clarification on the show's cyp entry. What in blazes is everyone talking about?
-
Only entry in that class is a pic of Cypripedium formosanum.......what makes it different from any other cyps? Looks the same to me.... I must be missing something here ???
-
The flower and the leaves are nothing like other cyps. The leaves look as if they have be cut in half and the flower has that 'invagination' which is very 'unladylike'.
-
Cypripedium formosanum and japonicum are VERY different from the North American cyps and the UK's (one or two remaining?) calceolus. One of the two (I think it's formosanum) has pleated leaves that look like a Victorian collar subtending the flower...they are fabulous.
-
I totally agree Carlo. They are fabulous and I'd like to try them, but they are so different.
-
I totally agree Carlo. They are fabulous and I'd like to try them, but they are so different.
But they're still cypripediums. Why separate them? There's more of a case for separating the juno irises from say, the beared rhimomatous species, or porophyllum saxifragas from say S. fortunei. It doesn't happen (thank goodness), so why for the cyps? Vive la difference, I say.

The judges have finally finished and gone off for lunch. The doors are open for the show to be viewed, the coloured stickers seen and the mutterings (sorry intellectual discussion) to commence

Forumists did well too.
-
Congratulations to MartinR and Diane Clement, quite a lot of stickers some of them red I noticed. Also to Tony Lee who doesn't post on the forum but is often lurking behind the scenes. Seem to recall Luc G had a lot of lovely pictures in the Show as well.
-
Not to mention Black Pudding Girl who also did quite well. Well done to all who entered. And if you didnt there's always the next one
-
Lesley's obviously very busy BD sitting but I see she got a card as well.

Nice to see how many of our forumist got prizes for their pictures.
About the judging I've some problems when seeing two prizes for one plant with different names.
Taking a picture from one side call the plant Dodecatheon pulchellum ( 1st. prize) and take it from the other side you call it Dodecatheon alpinum (2nd prize).
Nevertheless beautiful pictures!
-
Different people calling the Dodecatheon different names, though, Luit!
I'm not surprised that so many SRGC Forumists did so well... they get a lot of very good practice here!
-

Oh yes Maggi, but these pictures were from the same person ??? :-X
-
I haven't seen them all, Luit : I'll look out.
I see by your posts elswhere that it was another good day at Lisse!! 8)

Two actually David, but who's counting? ;D Seconds for Iris barbatula and Weldenia candida. I'm very pleased with 2 from 3 entries.
-
I totally forgot about the AGS show, but remembered when I saw this topic. Lucky to me there was not to many entries, so I was pleased to register that I got three "FIRST" out of four pictures ;D
-
Hearty congratulations Geir. I must go back to the show and see what your firsts were. Well done. :D
-
Geir,
Your Ranunculus parnassifolius Nuria form was bound to win ! What a stunner. :o
