Title: Cypripedium - no new roots
Post by: mark smyth on September 26, 2013, 12:33:10 PM
Yesterday I was checking my Cypripediums and removing dead top growth. I wasn't happy to see that two haven't produced any new roots. They do have new buds for next year. What might have gone wrong?

Hi Mark,

Have you been tipping your pots over to see the roots? they should have white tips and look very active at this time of year. Roots are generally still growing when the top growth is dormant.

Are these new plants bought in the green?

They were bought from Germany this year, while dormant, and shipped in their pots

So you have grown them during spring/ summer or you have just bought them recently? your autumn

Trying to figure out if it was the supplier that has sent you Cyps that have stressed out from maybe lack of or too much watering?? so many variables.

What have you done?...more to the point  :)
