Title: Sowing of terrestrial species of Australia
Post by: orchidsworld on September 16, 2013, 07:37:02 AM
As it is really difficult to find terrestrial orchids from Autralia here in Europa, I've decided to sart from seeds...

The difficulty is to find the right medium for the right species... I still have to do some tries...

Here some pictures of my first results :

Thelymitra luteocilium

Thelymitra paniculata

Both will be replate tomorrow...

I also have T. carnea, T. erosa, Caladenia rileyi and Leptoceras menziesii that are germinating...

And Caladenia rileyi already replated :

Thanks for the links ;)

I will get this week normally some Spiranthes sinensis... S. australis is really different from sinensis or just a variety ?

Hi orchidsworld (wish you had a name to call you by???)

I have just bought some seed of Spiranthes australis on ebay. When it arrives, can I send it to you? Of course, we don't know whether it is fresh or viable, but probably worth a try. I shall split the seeds into two packets and will get a friend to germinate one half here in the UK.

It's not so much  remembering my 25000 posts, Lars, it's more the 278143 Posts in 9231 Topics by 2164 Members - every one of which, as moderator, I have read - mostly I don't even remember what day it is.  My head is so full of flowers! :D

Dear Francois, I have a adres for you for sowing medium and deflasking medium for the Australian orchids. I have a contact ofer there and maybe I get different protocorns of Australian terestrial orchids from him. I also have contacts in Europe, with some laboratorys who wants to sow and grow orchids. I also have some 100 different species of ground orchids en this is growing. Take a look on my website: www.deplantspecialist.nl (http://www.deplantspecialist.nl) in Holland. Send me a mail if you want to know more,
