Some days ago some friends and we made our traditional 2-day trip to the
Berghaus Schwaben Mountain hut near Bolsterlang. This place is relatively
easy accessible by an almost 1 hour walk from the cable car station.
The late season and the grazing cows were responsible for only a few flowering
plants, but many tasty blueberries were picked by us.

Yes, we were lucky and enjoyed the unusual sunny weather.
The last week was cruel in our region - rain almost all the time
and the forecast promises more of it.

Did you see such a beautiful flowering Veratrum album plant???
I am surprised, the Gentiana asclepiadea is still on full flowering by us too in the garden in the Vosges, but Veratrum album has long, very long passed away though and is beginning to rest for the winter now!
I think your pic 038 migth be Cirsium acaule.
As you said, first week of september was hot and sunny, but the sky totally changed program since 10 days now: we had during this short time more rain than we had in last both whole July and August, and I think we could get the unbelievable 200mm rain-amount untill thursday :P
Some melting snow fell here this morning. And I guess the Allgäuer Alpen must have been pretty whitened for the first time of the season ;)

Many thanks for your reply and the identification of Cirsium acaule.
You are right, the webcam at the top cable car station shows the
first snow at this region.
The Veratrum album grew among some ferns in a rather shady place,
this could maybe be the reason for the late flowering.
The attached pictures were made last year above the Pordoi Pass in the
Dolomites at the end of July.
