I bought this plant many years ago as Stachys discolor, however googling this name, I see plants of very different character.
Here's my plant - lanceolate leaves with scalloped edges up to 6" long and 1" wide; plant itself is about 4" tall; in flower, stems are 6-8" tall. Flowers are white, large (guessing ~1.25 inches long) and relatively few in a cluster.

Here's are examples of a very different plant (I think) from googling Stachys discolor:

...although some references seem to show the same plant as mine:

Which is the real Stachys discolor? Thanks in advance for any help with this.

Lori, your plant looks like the one I always knew as Stachys nivea.
What I know is that the plant in the "Sarastro"link is the same as mine.
Stachys nivea is the accepted name and the plant grows according to my books in Israel on Mt. Hermon.
Hopefully somebody from Israel can tell more?
On your picture the colour is more whitish than my plant and looks higher. Since some years I have a young plant but no pic of it yet, but I found 2 pics from my scanned dias, one from 1983 and one some years later.
My plant never grew higher than 35 cm.

Thank you, Luit. Stachys nivea is what I was thinking as well.
The second photo you show is an amazing plant! I've had mine since 2003 and it has remained quite small; looking at it yesterday, I see it has expanded to 3 or 4 offsets finally. It didn't even bloom this year. Too much competition in the border, I guess. I started another from seed and put it in the tufa garden, where it has remained extremely small.
