In late May the Friends of Cruickshank Garden paid a visit to Tillypronie House near Tarland. It was a late year so the Azaleas which are a feature in early June were not in flower. I was intrigued with the way they cultivated buddleias, training them up a wall. Each year the head gardener has to climb up a ladder to prune them back to a framework. I went back on the open day last Sunday mainly to see how they looked in flower.
The first picture is the house in May
Second - a not very clear picture of the buddleias on the wall of the extension
The other three are the buddleias flowering just now

Haven't a clue how the second one came up full size ???

What a wonderfully "Scottish"- looking house. It couldn't be anywhere else in the world I think. But are those buddleias right against the house wall? If so they'd drive me crazy. I'm reminded of and Old English sheepdog, trying to peer through his facial hair. :)

Thank you for showing a great building and I'm glad you went back to look at the Buddleia. All that straggly growth looks awful obscuring a fine facade.

Wonder how they deadhead them!
