[attachimg=1] I regret to inform members that IAN CROSTHWAITE STEELE, a hard working and popular member of the Stirling Group passed away on Monday 12th August. Ian died on Monday from complications with pneumonia: he was diagnosed with leukaemia in May.
Ian, with his wife Ann was involved in many aspects of Club life and was responsible for encouraging new members to the club and was generous with his plants and advice.
Ian was also involved with other charitable groups, holding a Directorship of the Falkirk Environment Trust, which is a charity that makes and administers grants to community led environmental projects in the Falkirk Area.

Ian was one of life's gentlemen. He was a friend and colleague of mine for over 20 years and I remember Jenny and Kenneth at school over 30 years ago. He was the person who got me interested in rock gardening, and set me off on snowdrop growing when he produced a potful of 'Magnet' he'd got for me from one of the spring shows, before I ever visited one. We exchanged emails whenever we felt we had some news and I was overdue sending our latest potted summary. This was so unexpected. He was so fit, hill walking and camping with Ann and the family. He will be missed by all who knew him.
