Title: Ron McBeath Garden Open Day 31st August & Talk
Post by: Rob Potterton on June 28, 2013, 04:22:06 PM: Ron & Susan McBeath will be holding their annual Open Garden event on Saturday 31st August at their home in Lamberton. Nurseries attending will be Pottertons and Macplants with many plants and bulbs for sale, from 9am to 4pm. Orders may be collected. Also Rob Potterton will give a lecture at the Village Hall at 2pm, "A Labour of Love - 40 years at Pottertons Nursery". ALL welcome. Refreshments served.

All involved are staunch SRGC supporters and this promises to be a really good day out at

For those wishing to make an order to Potterton's (http://www.pottertons.co.uk/pott/index.php) or Macplants (http://www.macplants.co.uk/home.asp) beforehand, click on their names to be taken to their web addresses.

Lamberton is only one hour from Edinburgh and only a little more from Newcastle upon Tyne. The nursery is in the very south east corner of Scotland, close to the A1. If travelling south on the A1 take the second exit for Lamberton which is on the dual carriageway, cross the road bridge and the nursery is up the narrow road almost dead ahead. If travelling north follow the signs for Lamberton immediately after entering Scotland.

Ian has just taught me how to put the writing on the picture, Rob - it's good to have a live-in "Technical Director"! ;) To my shame :-[ I've never been to Ron and Susan's, so I needed Ian to check I'd got the right place, too.

Post by: Rob Potterton on August 01, 2013, 12:28:34 AM: Received a phone call from Ron this morning, the drought ended 2 weeks ago and the monsoon is now in full flow ;D .... this should be enjoyed by his extensive Himalayan plant collection ...... just over 4 weeks to go until the Open Garden Event you cannot miss !!!!!

Post by: Rob Potterton on September 03, 2013, 09:21:06 AM: Our thanks to all who supported the event last Saturday, a great crowd of folk from both sides of the border (and Norway & Canada) enjoyed a warm, sunny day, Ron & Susan's garden looked superb and both were in fine form. A steady flow of folk frequented the sales area and the afternoon talk was well attended. See you in 2014.
