Title: Muscari for IDing
Post by: mark smyth on May 26, 2013, 11:34:25 PM
I have Muscari pallens from three sources and each are different.

Two are shown below. What is the 10cm high blue one? Before they go over I need to lift, divide and separate the bulbs in to separate troughs

If I remember correctly the pale one came from Janis.

The third one not shown is a long stemmed plant with tiny flowers

Hello Mark

I would say they are all Muscari pallens;
the typical reddish/brown color of the stem appears only in this species.
I have seen population of this species in the Northern Caucasus and they are mostly very pale but occasionally also darker forms.

I hope to be in Israel next year for a swift, Apus apus, conference. Maybe we can meet?
