Title: Pilsen, Czech Republic
Post by: ruweiss on May 20, 2013, 09:42:48 PM
After the fine conference at Tabor we took the chance to visit Pilsen, the fourth biggest
city of the Czech Republic. Many years we only knew it as a place by the motorway at
our usual way to Prague and other Bohemian and Moravian places but also by the
world famous beer.
The brewery is really gigantic, they can fill up to 120 000 bottles per hour, wonder who
drinks it all. A visit can be highly recommended.
The town was founded in 1295 and the old town is a heaven for everyone interested in
architecture. The highest church steeple in Czech Republic with 102,6 m and the third
biggest Sinagogue in the world are only a few examples of this fascinating place.
Last not least the annual show of the local Rockgarden Club www.skalnicky-plzen.cz (http://www.skalnicky-plzen.cz) in
a schoolyard was a nice experience and a good chance to obtain some fine plants.

Another fine Czech city, Rudi - with more beautiful buildings like that fine synagogue,

Good to see the local rock garden show, too.

Rudi, I must tell you what a very great pleasure it was to meet you and Elke at the superb Czech conference. I was so delighted to meet so many lovely people face to face, rather than over the internet!
