Title: A fritillaria question
Post by: Arda Takan on April 20, 2013, 12:48:12 PM
Hello all,
One thing I don't understand about frits.
My f. fleischeriana bulbs make strange wide leaves this year. From what I understand it does that when it won't flower.
But is the reason bulb division?

Hi Ardan

did it made seeds last year
maybe not enough fertiliser
other possibility is that the plant died to soon down (sunburn for example)

lots of possibilities

Yes it made seeds last year. I didn't use any fertilizer.
so you think wide leaves mean focusing bulb developing in stead of flowers and reproduction

It probably means that the bulb used more energy as it got back from the soil
so  the bulb was smaller after flowering
and wasn't flowering size any more
