Title: Western Transcaucasia snowdrop trip - April 2013

Just returned from fairy places somewhere in far lost Abkhazia. Also visited a G. panjutinii locus in S. Russia.

Galanthus panjutinii flowers in the wild and some other plants, Anemone caucasica, Equisetum arvense generative and vegetative shoots

Galanthus panjutinii flowers in the wild and some other plants, Paeonia caucasica, incl. red-leafed form, Tussilago farfara. Galanthus rizehensis in fruits - a fertile race with extremely broad leaves.

Abkhazia landscapes and plants, Galanthus woronowii, Platanus orientalis, Erythronium caucasicum, Primula acaulis. G. krasnovii and G. woronowii growing together in syntopic manner - find the differences  ;D

Thankyou for the breath taking landscapes and plants we can only dream of seeing.panjutinii already has variations,and did i spot a couple of 4 x 4 flowers on the platyphyllus? ;)

Outstanding plants and landscape. Not only the G platyphyllus but the other wonderfull plants as well such as the Erythronium. Plant heaven.

Thank you Dima for sharing your travels with us, it is really good to see the landscapes where these plants are found.  So many G. krasnovii and G.panjutinii, I am overwhelmed :o :o

Dima, it is a great pleasure to read about your trip and see these amazing fields of rare Galanthus.
Congratulations with your find of Crocus autranii. It is almost a miracle that you could find this very rare crocus when not flowering. You must have special skills!

Congratulations with your find of Crocus autranii. It is almost a miracle that you could find this very rare crocus when not flowering. You must have special skills!

Poul, found it occasionally under old fir, thinking it's C. speciosus, but it turned to be autranii!

I've never been there later season. Think water runs while it melts higher on the ridge. But of course it is not full of water all the time.
We saw the same G. panjutinii location in Abchazia.
I would be tempted to "rescue" that clump. ;)

By the way Mr. Zubov is an excellent cook. He fed us a very tasty fried eggs with onions and lard.  :)
