Title: Turkish Iris Sp.
Post by: Steve Covey on March 14, 2013, 08:00:33 PM
Hi all,
a friend visited Turkey last May/June and although primarily interested in the insects she photographed many plants. Among them was this fabulous Iris. I've been unable to find it in my [small] reference library so was wondering if anyone could help. It was found at Van, Turkey on 3rd June.
TIA,
Steve.

Steve , I am fairly certain your Iris  belongs to the section Oncocyclus and is Iris sari.

Thank you all for such prompt responses :) A pretty conclusive match I think...and probably impossible to grow in cultivation without excessive TLC  ;)
Cheers,
Steve.
