And so to the next show.
-
Yes, March 9th Loughborough AGS Show
-
I will be bringing a tableful of my new narcissus hybrids for a display, since I have nothing worth competing with, so please come and talk to me if you're a fellow daffanatic.
-
Sounds good Anne- wish I could see that.
How is your latest list going? My parcel arrived today!
Big healthy plants, well packed, I was more than delighted with them.

Will hopefully come and say Hello Anne, what time does it open in the morning for sales? any idea? I know the show on AGS web site states 12 noon ,but am guessing that it is the time its open after judging
-
Chas, officially 10.00 but in reality they will be selling by 9
-
Even 9 could be too late for some choice plants - I've seen plants being sold out of the back of the van whilst nurserymen where still unloading at Hexham! :o
-
Thanks Martin, and Peter, will try to arrive reasonably early then ;)
-
I always have a terrible dilemma at Loughborough - having entered any plants in the show and photos for the artistic show, where do I head for next, plant sales or bacon butties?
Generally the bacon butties win........ :-X

Got to keep your strength up, Peter......

;D ;D ;D

Just goes to show, my first port of call at every show we go to, is the toilet!
-
It's an age thing Eric ;D
-
I've just had a message to say that the Loughborough show tomorrow is CANCELLED due to a gas leak. There's a lot of phoning round going on at the moment, so all judges and exhibitors should hear, but anyone who was just planning on visiting may not hear. If you know of anyone who usually comes just to visit, could you let them know?
-
Thanks Diane, beat me to it. There is building work at the back of the school and they have fractured the gas main. No chance of recovering the situation by tomorrow. Apologies to all.
-
Well, glad I hadn't started getting the daffs ready, but what a shame for the show team when they've done all the hard work.
-
A great shame for Doreen and Eric as this was to be their final show in charge, what a way to finish. :-\
So there go my bacon sandwiches for breakfast, gammon and chips in the pub at lunchtime......... :'(.
Won't miss the 5.00am start though. ;)

Ah well, Blackpool it is then!
-
Well, can't waste good plants so lets have an on-line show
-
Good idea, Martin - you've made a good start.
Iwill ring Fred to see if he has any bright ideas about how to manage online bacon butties........
-
Even an electronic smell would work ::)
-
3 red tickets, Martin ! ;D
-
Show off ;D
-
Show off ;D
At the risk of being rude...let's see yours :o
ps the good thing about virtual shows is you can't see the whole plant ;)
-
The best plant we were taking belonged to Mavis Allanson. I'll see if I can rustle up a photo later.

We're all missing what is, for many of us, the start of the season. They say bacon isn't good for us - but we'll all have to wait for Blackpool now. (Do they call them Bacon Barms there?)
I'd like to echo what Peter said about Eric and Doreen - for most of us they seem to have presided over that show for ever. They were there when I first went - I think it was 1994. In those days, my parents lived near Loughborough, and Doreen always used to be specially kind to my mother when she came to the show. It made a good weekend of it, especially when Loughborough show coincided with Mothering Sunday. I trust there will be a way at some time to mark Doreen and Eric's retirement.
I appreciate Martin's challenge; I was only bringing a few plants, and they will all be better next week. When I've got them sorted - I might put up one or two pictures.
-
Here's three plants from me:
Saxifraga Coolock Gem
Saxifraga John Byam Grounds
One from seed: Primula allionii seedling
-
Excellent Peter. Come on folks, get those cameras out
-
OK here is Mavis' plant of Hepatica japonica gyousei. Sorry the flowers aren't out but its a miserable grey day here.
