Just checking. Is it the Vincent Square location I need for the Snowdrop sales?

Thank you Maggie, the map is just what I need.
I think Chas was telling me to make sure I went to the Plant Hall first not the Design Hall. One is in Vincent Square (Plants I think) the other in Greycote St.
-
Jacqueline - we are in the hall in Greycoat Street. Haven't looked in the Vincent Square one yet, but that's where the design stuff is.
-
Great, an expert to the rescue!! Thanks, DD :-*
-
OOOOPs Change of plan ;)... Thanks Ding Dong, I was obviously heading for the wrong venue, Greycote St. it is, snowdrop heaven ;D Hope to meet you tomorrow!
-
I'll be there.
Have just realised that this will be the first year I have had to pay to get in as I've let my RHS membership lapse.
-
Well finally arrived home at 6.50 this evening,a really good day and so good to see so many forum members there :) :),no doubt pictures will appear later, both Jan and I are worn out :D
-
You surely deserve an evening off, Chas - I hope you haven't made Jan make your supper? Fish and chips are called for after a busy day like that then feet up!
-
A few photos from an excellent day at the RHS show.
1.A lovely sunny morning on the walk from Waterloo to the RHS halls.
2. Just 10.50 when walking past Big Ben so time to call into a local cafe for a fried egg and bacon roll with coffee then get a call from Tomoko Myashita in Japan saying she wished she could be in England and wishing Alan Street a gold medal for his display
3. Overview of the hall with Joe Sharman in conversation with Alan Street.
4.Ditto with Joe in conversation with Margaret Owen.

Cor! A great day- inside and out- super pix Melvyn. How marvelous that Avon did make a Gold, even after the worry about the date.
Can't believe that those forumists managed to be photographed beside a stand of lilies, though :o
-
Looks a great day, sorry I was working. Emma and Jacqueline both look laden down. Can you reveal what was in those bags?
-
Maggi ..................no cooking for Jan ,picked up a ready cooked chicken on the way home ;)
-
That's the spirit, Chas - we think it is for just such occasions that such grub is meant!
-

Looks like it might be easier to say what was NOT in their bags!
-

The crowds around the snowdrop stands made it too difficult to stand around there; the lillies weren't attracting so much attention.

80 black labels for my Mum , Galanthus 'Green Arrow' and 'Jade' which my cousin Cheryl had asked me to grab for her if i saw them .
I bought the golden form of cow parsley from Avon and a Dierama 'Tiny Bells' from some one else . So i didnt buy any snowdrops for me !!!!
-
Emma - as someone fascinated by umbellifers, do you have a picture of the golden cow parsley? This is new to me. We have plenty of native cow parsley in the garden (a beautiful weed), and the black leaved 'Ravenswing' (an even more beautiful weed), but a golden version... ?
-
I will take a picture if you like :) I think it was also on there stand a couple of years ago so i will look for that picture as well.

there is a picture of it on Johns blog from 2011

Poor Alan was sure his snowdrops would be past their best & then he puts on an amazing display & gets a GOLD......... 8)
The RHS wouldn't be the same without such committed plants people.
You all had a marvellous day by the looks of it!!
I must make more effort next year.......... ::)
-
Hope you are ok Emma ;D
i am perfectly well , you do need other plants in your life some times ::)
-
Mike , you really must 8)

If only the RHS seemed to realise that !

Recently the RHS have dumbed-down 'The Garden' magazine, reduced the number of London shows, made a feeble attempt to rebrand the February show as 'Design' and sold off one of their Westminster halls. I wonder quite where they think they are going and who they are trying to appeal to?
-
Many thanks Emma - I wonder how I've missed this over the past couple of years. I'm not sure I like the idea of an 'orange' Anthriscus; too much like going down the Heuchera road. But anyway umbels are far more difficult to hybridise.
-
I have no plans to try and breed an onrangey one :-X
-
a few pictures from yesterday
-
Emma - I was very tempted by the golden cow parsley but the label said it would only come true from seed if isolated and I have loads of the common cow parsley in the area I wanted to put it. Still wish I had got one to try it though as it was very attractive.
Here are a few photos I took at the RHS yesterday
1. Seedling on Avon stand
2. Lovely Lunaria called Chedglow - I hope this is soon available. This was on the Avon stand
3. Iris histrioides 'Lady Beatrix Stanley' - I intend to try this in a partial shade woodland setting with Iris Katherine Hodgkins.
4. Jacques Amand display of Iris which looked lovely
-
Few more:-
1. Avon seedling again
2. Broadleigh Stand
3. Chrysosplenium macrophyllum (likes dry shade)
4. Lunaria variegata Alba (bought a few in the hope they set seed and spread around). They were on the Avon stand
-
Jennie - I hope you got home ok with ALL those bags :) :) :)

We had to get a cab to Victoria and I had a paralysed arm! Could not get a cuppa at the station as we could not carry it.....my friend was cursing me :D Miraculously not a bloom was broken on anything.

Found this link buried deep in the RHS Twitter Feed! http://www.alternativeeden.com/2013/02/let-show-season-begin.html (http://www.alternativeeden.com/2013/02/let-show-season-begin.html) - hope it works!

Alan
Thanks for the link to the Show - it worked perfectly and the photos were excellent.
