HUNDREDS OF GARDENERS TO  DESCEND ON HOWDEN PARK, LIVINGSTON

Plant lovers from across Scotland will be in Livingston on 28 September for a new, exciting Autumn gardening event. Organised by the Scottish Rock Garden Club, this free public event at the Howden Park Centre appeals to both the seasoned gardener and those with a general interest in plants.  In addition to a large competitive plant show, there are gardening talks, family-friendly workshops, the chance to meet experts and discuss gardening issues as well as plenty of opportunity to purchase plants from many specialist nurseries from across Scotland and northern England.

Colin Crosbie, President, Scottish Rock Garden Club (SRGC), said:
“As part of our charitable commitment to promoting an interest in bulbous, alpine and woodland plants we’ve organised this event to encourage everyone to be part of the gardening community, reconnect with nature and enjoy the physical and mental health benefits that plants and gardening provide”.

In line with its ethos of broadening engagement the SRGC is delighted to have brought on board a range of national and local organisations to support the event, from the National Trust for Scotland to the nearby Murieston Community Garden Group, and to have secured a wide array of speakers covering a diverse range of gardening and horticultural topics.

“If you want to know more about, for example, plant-hunting or Scotland’s mountain plants, or find out about the weirdest and wackiest plants, or build a garden in a fish-box, or even see the Scottish apple collection then come along. Everyone is welcome”, said Colin
