Here is the first of my spring crocuses, even though it's only early winter. I still have autumn crocuses out, like ochroleucus and caspius. This poor little thing is very pale and wan and battered by wind and rain. Crocus biflorus ssp alexandri.

Two more out today just 1 or 2 days from winter solstice.

They are a white form of C. longiflorus and C. chrysanthus from Mt. Parnassus, new to me this year from Marcus Harvey in Tasmania.

Lesley,

Lovely.  The white longiflorus is elegant, isn't it.  I have points emerging on various crocus in the crocus garden, but nothing showing flowers at the moment except a late laevigatus var fontenayii.  3 different hoop petticoat daffs in flower or showing colour though, so they will all be nice in the next few days.  Shouldn't be long until there are more Crocus here as well though.  8)

The white longiflorus was a real bonus as Marcus threw it in as an extra but just labelled longiflorus (of which I have several) so I wasn't expecting a white. Very pleased with it. C. laevigatus is out today and many small narcissus are well into bud. Some nice 1st flowering seedlings of N. romieuxii `Julia Jane' are already out but I'll wait a few days until more are, as the first couple have been chewed. Reticulate irises also already well up.

I discovered this in flower here today, somewhat of a surprise as I hadn't even noticed it was above ground.....
