Ashley, host organisms absorbing and adopting some of the DNA of their pathogens?!!! And I thought I had a problems with fearing spiders! Now we're into 'Alien' territory! But yes, very interesting, biologically and philosophically! I'll be waking up at night thinking about that now!

Different scientist suggest different thoughts and points of views.
Anyway, it is possible than pollen does not contain virus and bees transfer it through the mechanigal demages with their parts of the body when taking the pollen.

During spring they so heavily attack my crocuses that many even look quite distorted. Just terrible to look at them!!!

The Scottish gardening programme Beech Grove also said this week to plant tulips late to avoid virus but they are maybe just repeating what they read like I did

if the tulips caught virus or infected, late planting will not help.
