BulbLog 11 - 2015

Ian, it's lovely to see your bulb houses in full flow. How big are the bulbs of Fritillaria chitralensis? It looks as if the bulb should be huge, too big for the pot you have it in!
Narcissus 'Fringella Group' is delightful, but I did not raise it, it is one of Brian Duncan's. Here is a picture of a couple of square metres of it growing in the open field in Ireland.

Hi Ian

Another lovely display of flowering bulbs; I'm especially attracted to the fritillaries.

I was also going to ask a question regarding the fritillaria pots - how deep are they?

Thanks Anne, I had presumed it was one of yours great to see it growing in Brian's field, another of the Narcissus greats.

Chris those pots are 9 cms squared and 11cms deep, I could squeeze two mature F. chitralensis bulbs into one of them but then the flowers stems would be touching and I don't like that.

Thanks Ian, I thought they might have been deeper.
