Title: Clivia i.d.
Post by: johnw on July 09, 2022, 01:36:34 PM
A late friend went to Kirstenbosch about 6-8 years ago and bought seeds there. She gave several of us seedlings and the first has just flowered with a friend but she can’t identifiy it.  She says: "It didn't have a label so guessing from caulescens, gardenii or nobilis groups, Possibly a cross."  Hard to tell anything about the mouth of the flower other than pinched.Wonder if maybe you can help?

Hi John
Are the leaf edges smooth or raspy?  Nobilis is raspy with a notch at the leaf tip.
Looks like a pale gardenii from here. But possibly a hybrid?

Rimmer - The edges are noiticeably raspy  from the indented leaf tips down 1/4 of the way toward the base, then not noticeably so. Thanks so much. johnw
