If this IS a narcissus, then surely the fact that there is no ovary could point to a constitutional change to the makeup of the plant that might well result in a bulb that is a funny colour etc?
Forgive my clumsy description.. hope you get my meaning... any one out there think that's a possibility?

Maggi, I think you are confusing the issue (deliberately?). I still reckon this is something Dave has cooked up on his computer in order to faze the natives. Are the bases of the leaves round in cross section Dave? They appear to be in the upper pictures. If this is grown from seed, have you learned something about keeping your labels well marked?

Mark : Nah! I don't think so... the leaves of the paramongaia are too broad and the flower is huge. Also, no word of any double flowers.

Lesley: me, confuse deliberately ? Never! I am good enough accidentally!

ruined my nights sleep now! Better go and watch out for the Darby clan now.

Anyway I read in the Plantsman the leaves can be two inches wide and 2.5 feet long. Flowers scented of lemon, spice and vanilla. Better luck next time
